Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A ritual bell is a small bell rung in ceremony to open and close a rite, clear the air and call attention. Bells have been used in temples and churches around the world for thousands of years.
Uses in the Work
Ring it at the start of a ritual to clear the air and signal to the spirits that the rite is beginning, and again to close. Ring it at each quarter while calling the elemental demons, and to mark each stage of a long working. The sound breaks up stagnant energy, so ring it in each corner after a cleansing. Some practitioners ring the bell counter-clockwise to open and clockwise to close.
