Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A wand decorated with alchemical symbols, used to direct energy in ritual. Alchemy was the art of transforming base matter into gold and the soul into enlightenment, and its symbols are still used in Western magic.
Uses in the Work
Use it to cast the circle, direct energy toward a target, point to the quarters while calling the elemental demons, and stir and charge a potion. In evocation, hold it to summon and command and to trace the sigil of the spirit in the air. Dedicate it to a patron demon by anointing it with that spirit’s oil and burning its incense, so that the wand carries its power. Its alchemical symbols make it fitting for workings of transformation, such as initiation, shadow work and self-dedication on the left-hand path.

Lore
The alchemists’ motto “solve et coagula”, dissolve and bind, is written on the arms of Lévi’s Baphomet. Isaac Newton wrote over a million words on alchemy, more than on physics.
