Origin & Traditional Use

A small antique-finish wooden box for storing herbs, crystals, jewellery and ritual items. Wooden boxes have always been used by practitioners to keep their tools hidden and protected.

Uses in the Work

Use it to store sigils, petitions and pact papers, to hold a spirit’s offerings and tokens, or as a spell box: fill it with herbs, stones and a petition, close it and keep it on the altar. It can also hold a charged talisman when it is not being worn.

Lore

In folk magic a “spell box” is a container in which a working is sealed so its energy is held and focused. Jewellery and trinket boxes were often given as gifts with a hidden charm inside.
