Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Chime candles are small, slim candles that burn in about one to two hours, making them ideal for a single spell, daily offerings and candle grids. Their name comes from the German angel chimes, little brass carousels spun by the heat of these candles. In candle magic an ivory candle is burned for purity and blessing.
Uses in the Work
Small spell candles that burn in about an hour, made for focused workings carried through to completion in a single sitting. White serves every purpose. It stands for illumination, consecration, purification and the Morning Star aspect, and it can substitute for any other color in a pinch. Burn it on a Monday or Sunday. Chimes are ideal for daily rituals, quick petitions and multi-candle layouts. Set several in a circle around a petition, or burn one each day for seven days. Always let them burn out completely; snuffing a chime breaks its single-sitting purpose.
