Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A figure candle is a candle moulded in the shape of a person, animal or symbol, so that the candle itself stands for what the working is about. Figure candles grew from the ancient practice of the wax image, in which what is done to the image is done to the one it represents. Face to face candles show two figures facing each other, and are burned in conjure to bring two people together, to reconcile, or to make someone confront a situation. In candle magic a red candle is burned for love, passion and courage.
Uses in the Work
Two figures facing one another, used to draw two people into each other’s sight and heart, or to force a confrontation into the open. Red belongs to Mars: passion, lust, courage, vitality and martial will. Burn it on a Tuesday in the hour of Mars. Carve one name on each figure and dress the candle with an attraction or come-to-me oil. Burn it on a petition written with both names, interlocking.
