Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A figure candle is a candle moulded in the shape of a person, animal or symbol, so that the candle itself stands for what the working is about. Figure candles grew from the ancient practice of the wax image, in which what is done to the image is done to the one it represents. Black cat candles are burned for luck, especially in gambling, and to reverse curses, while other colours of cat candle draw love, money or healing to a pet or familiar.
Uses in the Work
The cat figure, ancient companion of witches, burned for luck, protection, glamour and work with familiar spirits. Green belongs to Venus and the earth: money, fertility, growth and the Venusian current of attraction. Burn it on a Friday. Dress it with Black Cat oil for luck and reversal, or with attraction oil for glamour. Burn it near the door to watch over the home, or on a familiar altar.
