Working with Demons

6 1/2″ Red Separation candle

$16.45

Description

Origin & Traditional Use

A figure candle is a candle moulded in the shape of a person, animal or symbol, so that the candle itself stands for what the working is about. Figure candles grew from the ancient practice of the wax image, in which what is done to the image is done to the one it represents. Separation candles show two figures standing back to back, and are burned in conjure to drive two people apart and end a relationship.

Uses in the Work

Two figures back to back, burned to drive a couple, friendship or partnership apart. Red belongs to Mars: passion, lust, courage, vitality and martial will. Burn it on a Tuesday in the hour of Mars. Carve a name on each side and dress the candle with a separation, banishing or Black Arts oil. Some lay black walnut hull and mustard seed between the figures, or a strand of each person’s hair to tie the candle to them.

Pairs Well With

Black Walnut Hull – 1 oz; Nightshade Banishing Oil – 4 dram; Black Arts Oil – 4 dram

Lore

Black walnut is the classic herb of severance in conjure. It is said to make people leave, and to break ties that were never meant to hold.
