Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A pillar candle is a thick, free-standing candle that burns for many hours, the traditional altar candle of churches and temples. Pillars suit long workings and are often carved and dressed over several sessions. Reversing candles are burned in conjure to send a curse, hex or harmful work back to the person who sent it, so it returns to its source.
Uses in the Work
A candle of reversal that turns the current around so that whatever was sent comes home to its sender. The practitioner stands untouched while the enemy reaps their own harvest. Write the sender’s name (or ‘whoever has worked against me’) and turn the paper upside down beneath the candle. Dress it with Reversing oil and burn it facing a mirror so the work is reflected back. Never stand between the flame and the mirror while it burns.
