Origin & Traditional Use

Reiki-charged pillar candles are large free-standing candles that have been energetically charged with Reiki, a Japanese energy practice, for a particular intention. Pillars burn for many hours and are the traditional altar candle. Chakra candles are coloured for the energy centres of the body described in Tantric yoga, and are burned in meditation to open, balance and strengthen a particular centre.

Lore

The chakra system comes from Tantric yoga, and Western occultism absorbed it through Theosophy in the late 1800s. Many ceremonial magicians now pair it with the Qabalistic Middle Pillar exercise.
