Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A votive is a small candle, about two inches tall, made to burn for around ten to fifteen hours in a holder. The word comes from the Latin votum, a vow, because votives were lit before saints and gods to carry a prayer. Love candles are burned to draw love, strengthen a relationship, call a particular person to you or open the heart, one of the oldest purposes of candle magic.
