Origin & Traditional Use

An herbal votive is a small candle, about two inches tall, blended with herbs and oils chosen for its intention and made to burn for around ten to fifteen hours in a holder. The word votive comes from the Latin votum, a vow, because votives were lit before saints and gods to carry a prayer. Manifestation candles are burned with a written wish or petition to bring a desire into being, the oldest form of candle magic.

Uses in the Work

For manifestation and the fulfillment of desire: the candle of ‘get what you want.’ Write your desire as if it has already happened, sign it, and burn it beneath the candle. When the flame is spent, burn the paper in your cauldron and release it. Pink belongs to Venus: love, tenderness, friendship and self-love. Burn it on a Friday in the hour of Venus.
