Origin & Traditional Use

Fluorite is a glassy mineral banded in purple, green and clear, used industrially in steelmaking and in lenses. In crystal practice rainbow fluorite is used for mental clarity, focus, study and order.

Uses in the Work

Use it to clear mental fog before study, ritual planning and magical writing. Place it on the desk when researching demons, sigils and grimoires to retain what you read. In meditation it helps organise visions and messages received in trance, and it is useful in protection grids against confusion spells and manipulation.

Lore

Fluorite gave its name to fluorescence, because it glows under ultraviolet light. Its name comes from the Latin fluere, “to flow”, because it was used to help metals flow when smelted. The Romans prized fluorite drinking cups and believed they gave a special flavour to wine.
