Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Lailokens Awen candles are hand-poured intention candles made with herbs, oils and symbols for a particular purpose or sabbat. Awen is the Welsh word for the flowing spirit of poetic and divine inspiration. Samhain candles are burned at the Gaelic festival of summer’s end on 31 October, when the veil between the worlds is thinnest and the dead are honoured.
Uses in the Work
For Samhain, the witches’ new year, when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest. It is used for necromancy, ancestor work and divination. Burn it on the ancestor altar with photos, bread and wine. Set an empty place at the table for the dead and scry in a black mirror while it burns.
