7″ White taper pair

$8.75

Description

Origin & Traditional Use

Taper candles are tall, slender candles that burn for several hours in a candlestick. They were the everyday candle of churches and homes for centuries and are the classic altar and quarter candle. Elemental and altar candles are burned at the four quarters or on the altar to represent and call the elements of fire, water, earth and air.

Uses in the Work

A taper candle for the altar, set in the color of your working and suited to ceremony, to the pillars of the temple, or to carrying in procession. White serves every purpose. It stands for illumination, consecration, purification and the Morning Star aspect, and it can substitute for any other color in a pinch. Burn it on a Monday or Sunday. Carve your sigil or the planetary seal down the length of the taper. Dress it toward the wick to draw or away from the wick to banish, and burn it in the matching planetary hour.

Pairs Well With

Brass Chamberstick Taper Holder; Candle Carving Set; Sun Planetary Oil – 2 dram
