Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Azurite-malachite is a natural combination of two copper minerals, deep blue azurite and green malachite. Both were ground into pigments in the ancient world, and in crystal practice the combination is used for insight paired with change.
Uses in the Work
Use it to unite insight and action: azurite opens the inner sight while malachite pushes for change. Place it on the brow during meditation or scrying to sharpen visions, and carry it through periods of transformation after a dedication or pact. It is suited to workings with demons of knowledge and transformation, such as Bune, Marbas or Asmoday.
Pairs Well With
Lapis Lazuli – 1 lb Rough; Labradorite – 1 lb Tumbled; Mugwort – 1 oz
Lore
Azurite and malachite are both copper carbonates and often grow together in the same deposit. Azurite slowly weathers into malachite, so a blended specimen literally shows one becoming the other. Both were ground as pigments: azurite for the blue of medieval skies and malachite for Egyptian eye paint.
