Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Baphomet oil is a ritual anointing oil dedicated to the Baphomet, used in left-hand path, Luciferian and Satanic practice. Anointing oils have been used for consecration since ancient Egypt and Israel.
Uses in the Work
Anoint the brow, heart and palms before rituals of self-dedication and initiation, and dress the altar statue of Baphomet when consecrating the temple. Dress black and white candles together to honour the union of opposites, and anoint a sigil of Baphomet before meditation. It is used in workings for balance, hidden wisdom, sexual mysteries and the integration of shadow and light, and to consecrate ritual tools to the left-hand path.

Lore
Lévi’s Baphomet has a torch of intelligence between its horns and the caduceus of Hermes in its lap. Aleister Crowley took “Baphomet” as his magical name as head of the O.T.O., and believed the name meant “father of peace” or “baptism of wisdom”.
