Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A pillar candle is a thick, free-standing candle that burns for many hours, the traditional altar candle of churches and temples. Pillars suit long workings and are often carved and dressed over several sessions. In candle magic a black candle is burned for protection, banishing, binding and work with the dead.
Uses in the Work
Use it as the left-hand pillar of the temple, as a long-burning flame through multi-night workings, or as a devotional light for chthonic and infernal powers. Carve sigils deep into the wax, since a pillar burns long enough for the work to settle.
