Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A leather-bound blank journal for use as a grimoire or book of shadows, the private record of a practitioner’s spells, rituals, spirit contacts and results.
Uses in the Work
Record every working in it: the date, moon phase and planetary hour, what you did, which spirit you called, what you felt and saw, and what manifested afterwards. Over time it becomes your own grimoire and the evidence of your relationship with each demon. Copy sigils, Enns and offerings for each spirit onto their own page, and write your dedications and pacts in it. Consecrate it before the first entry and keep it closed to others.
Pairs Well With
Porcupine Quill Pen; Black Magical Ink – 1 oz; Wiccan Altar Bell 5″
Lore
The term “Book of Shadows” was introduced by Gerald Gardner, the founder of modern Wicca, in the 1950s. He said he took the name from an article about an old Sanskrit manual of palmistry. Each new initiate copied the coven’s book by hand.
