Description
Origin & Traditional Use
An herbal votive is a small candle, about two inches tall, blended with herbs and oils chosen for its intention and made to burn for around ten to fifteen hours in a holder. The word votive comes from the Latin votum, a vow, because votives were lit before saints and gods to carry a prayer. Empowerment candles are burned to build confidence, courage, motivation and personal power.
Uses in the Work
For personal power: confidence, courage and the sovereign will of self-deification. Burn it at sunrise on a Sunday, gaze into the flame, and speak aloud the person you are becoming. Anoint the brow with Sun or Crown of Success oil. Brown belongs to the earth and Saturn: justice, court cases, stability, grounding and the protection of animals. Burn it on a Saturday.
Pairs Well With
Sun Planetary Oil – 2 dram; Crown of Success Oil – 1 oz; Citrine – 1 lb Tumbled
Lore
Self-deification, becoming a god rather than worshipping one, is the heart of the left-hand path. In Luciferian thought, the illuminated will is the true Morning Star.
