Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Garnet is a deep red gemstone family set in jewellery since the Bronze Age and used industrially as an abrasive. In crystal practice it is used for passion, vitality, commitment and protection.
Uses in the Work
Use it for passion, lust, blood and vitality. Place it on the altar in sex magic and workings with Lilith, Asmodeus and the Succubi. Charge it during blood offerings and pacts to carry the power of the life force into the working, and carry it for protection while travelling. It also strengthens commitment, so it suits devotional work with a patron demon.

Lore
Garnet takes its name from the Latin granatum, pomegranate, for the resemblance of its crystals to the seeds. The pomegranate is the fruit of Persephone, queen of the underworld. Medieval travellers carried garnets for protection at night, and Noah was said to have used one to light the ark.
