Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Larvikite is a dark grey igneous stone with blue and silver flashes, quarried in Norway. It is used as a polished building stone and countertop, and in crystal practice for protection, grounding and psychic sight.
Uses in the Work
Use it for scrying, dreamwork and seeing in darkness. Gaze into its flash in candlelight to enter trance, or place it under the pillow to strengthen dream contact with demons. It is suited to night and shadow work with lunar and chthonic spirits, and serves as a protective stone for astral travel and journeys into the underworld. Polished slabs make fine altar tiles for the north quarter.

Lore
Larvikite is named for the town of Larvik in Norway, almost the only place it is quarried. Its blue flash comes from layers of feldspar. It is widely used as a building stone, so many people walk past it daily on shopfronts and banks without realising it.
