Origin & Traditional Use

This is a scented jar candle made for a specific intention, poured into glass so it can burn safely for many hours. Jar candles are used as devotional lights and for workings that need to be held over several days. Mabon candles are burned at the autumn equinox, when day and night stand equal before the dark half of the year.

Uses in the Work

For the Autumn Equinox, when light and dark stand equal and begin to tip toward the night. It is used for balance, thanksgiving and descent. Burn it with one black and one white candle to mark the balance, then snuff the white first to welcome the dark half of the year.
