Mullein Leaf – 1 oz

$3.25

Description

Origin & Traditional Use

Mullein is a tall wild plant with soft, velvety leaves and a spike of yellow flowers. Its leaves were traditionally used in European folk herbalism, and its dried stalks were dipped in tallow as torches. In conjure the powdered leaf is a substitute for graveyard dirt.

Uses in the Work

Use it in protection, necromancy and spirit work. Mullein’s powdered leaf is a classic substitute for graveyard dirt in conjure. Carry it to keep away evil, burn it to call the dead and banish nightmares, and dip the dried stalks in wax to make ritual torches. It is used in protective charms for travel and courage.

Pairs Well With

Graveyard Dirt – 1 oz; Valerian Root – 1 oz; Tabula Mortem Spirit Board

Lore

Mullein was known as “hag’s taper” and “witches’ candle” because its dried stalk, dipped in tallow, made a torch. Ulysses was said to carry mullein to protect himself from Circe. Roman soldiers dipped the stalks in fat for funeral torches.
