Description
Origin & Traditional Use
A pillar candle is a thick, free-standing candle that burns for many hours, the traditional altar candle of churches and temples. Pillars suit long workings and are often carved and dressed over several sessions. Road opening and new beginning candles are burned to clear obstacles, open doors and bless the start of a new venture, often timed to the waxing moon.
Uses in the Work
A candle for new beginnings, burned to plant a seed in the dark and grow it with the waxing Moon. Light it on the first evening the crescent appears, write what you are beginning, and burn it a little each night until the Full Moon.
