Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Selenite is a transparent, satiny form of gypsum. It is sold as wands, towers and slabs and is used in crystal practice to cleanse other crystals and spaces, and for clarity and peace.
Uses in the Work
Use a selenite wand to sweep the aura and the working space clean after evocation, before re-consecrating it. Lay tools, jewellery and other crystals on a selenite slab overnight to clear residue from previous workings. Place it at the edge of the circle to keep the space clear without banishing the spirits you are working with, and use it in lunar workings and to aid clarity in scrying.

Lore
Selenite is named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the Moon. Ancient writers said its glow waxed and waned with the lunar cycle. Its sheets are so transparent that Romans used them as window panes, and Mexico’s Cave of the Crystals holds selenite beams more than ten metres long.
