Description
Origin & Traditional Use
Snowflake obsidian is black volcanic glass with white “snowflake” patterns. In crystal practice it is used for grounding, balance and seeing the hidden side of things.
Uses in the Work
Use it in shadow work: the inner journey into what is hidden, repressed and denied. Hold it during meditation on the qliphoth or the left-hand path to face the darker self. Carry it as a protective and grounding stone that softens the intensity of black obsidian. It is fitting in work with Lilith and the dark goddesses, and in rituals of death and rebirth.
Pairs Well With
Black Obsidian – 1 lb Tumbled; Selenite – 1 lb Tumbled; 9″ White/Black Pillar Candle
Lore
The “snowflakes” are clusters of cristobalite crystals that begin to form as volcanic glass slowly changes to crystal over millions of years. Obsidian was the sacred stone of the Aztec god Tezcatlipoca, the “smoking mirror”.
