Description

Origin & Traditional Use

A wooden box carved with the Tree of Life, used for storing herbs, stones, tarot decks and ritual items. The Tree of Life is an ancient image of the world tree connecting all levels of existence.

Uses in the Work

Store dried herbs, roots and curios away from light and damp, or keep tarot decks, pendulums and sigils safe from stray energy. A dedicated box for each spirit, holding its sigil, offerings and tools, keeps the working together. Boxes like this also serve as a closed altar for those who need to keep their practice private.

Lore

The Tree of Life appears in Assyrian palace carvings, the Garden of Eden and the Norse Yggdrasil. Medieval cunning folk kept their charms and books in locked boxes, and a witch’s box was often the first thing searched in a trial.
